Violence in the workplace is a problem that has reached
epidemic proportions in our country. In the Zero Tolerance series, our panel of experts
illustrate the problems which lead to workplace violence.
Volume I:
Perpetrator Profiles
The experts discuss
perpetrators and some of the early-warning signs that will often escalate to violence.
Learn how to identify potential problems before they turn serious.
Volume II: The Role of Law Enforcement
Teaches how law-enforcement can be an
important component to reducing the chances of an incident, and demonstrates the benefits
of establishing a close relationship. |
This timely
program examines workplace violence by looking at: 1. the problem; and
2. the solution. The first few minutes of this film illustrate the
financial costs and personal impact of workplace violence, and then
presents real-world solutions. It shows what each individual can
personally do to reduce the chances of violence happening where they
work. It also shows how "environmental design" can help reduce the
threat of violence.
The film covers a broad
range of topics. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED);
how to identify warning signs; how to keep potential perpetrators out of
a business; how to find out if someone has a history of violence; how to
effectively train employees and managers to be part of the solution;
reducing common threats; reducing risks associated with lay-offs; how
employee assistance programs reduce violence; utilizing the resources of
law enforcement, and more.

Review:
"What makes the two volumes so
informative and interesting is the exceptional quality of the experts who discuss the
various aspects to the issues at hand.
'Volume I, Perpetrator Profiles -
Warning Signs', gives an overview of the scope and severity of occupational violence.
'Volume II, The Role of Law
Enforcement'... discusses the often-overlooked value of local law enforcement agencies as a
resource in both violence prevention and incident management."

Review:
"...Interviews
with attorneys, corporate trainers, and security experts cover a wide range of
topics, including how to detect potentially dangerous behaviors, the
importance of management training, and the commitment to take all threats
seriously and either direct the employee towards help and/or invoke punitive
(though gently handled) proceedings... an affordable and useful overview."
